Don’t miss the point.

Are you in danger of missing the point?

To the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 1:1-2 ESV)

In the first section of Ephesians we encounter rapid fire shots of amazing theological concepts - adoption, redemption, forgiveness etc. All of these things hinge on one thing. Paul makes it hard to miss what his point is through his repetition of one thing: Jesus

He uses Jesus’ name three times in his two verse greeting then goes on to use variations on the phrase ‘in Christ’ eleven more times in his opening eulogy. Christianity is not a worldview or a moral code - it’s about a person.Tweet this

All of these ‘spiritual blessings’ come to us because of Jesus

  • V3 we have every spiritual blessing in Christ
  • V4 we are chosen in Him
  • V5 we are adopted through Jesus Christ
  • V6 grace is freely given to us ‘in the One he loves’
  • V7 we have redemption in him and through His blood
  • V9 God’s will is purposed in Christ
  • V11 we are chosen in Him
  • V12 Our hope is in Christ
  • V13 We have been included in Christ when we hear and believe the gospel

It’s all about Jesus

In church, in your life as a Christian, there can be a lot of stuff going on. Don’t miss the central point - the person of Jesus. Look to Jesus.
