Why Praise God?

to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
(Ephesians 1:6 ESV)

In Ephesians 1, Paul can’t help himself but to overflow with praise to God for who He is and what He has done. In a 200+ word sentence, he covers a lot of ground in describing the spiritual blessings that we have in Jesus.

  • When you have spoken harshly and hurt others - praise God that you are forgiven and that his plan is to make you holy and blameless
  • When you are feeling insignificant and isolated, like nobody is bothered about your life and what you’re doing - praise God that he has chosen you for adoption into his family, out of his unchanging love for you.
  • When you have failed in the same area again and again - praise God that you are redeemed - freed from slavery to sin, not because you are able to do better next time but because of Jesus blood shed in your place.
  • When you feel overwhelmed with guilt - praise God that you are forgiven. You have not exhausted the supply of his forgiveness!
  • When you experience the brokenness of the world - pain, tears, death - Praise God that he has guaranteed our inheritance - eternal life with him where there is no more pain, no more tears, no more death.
  • When you feel like you don’t deserve anything from God (you’re right!) - praise God for the riches of his glorious grace that he has lavished on us Click to Tweet this
