we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.

Angels destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because the outcry against it's wickedness is so great.
When I cringe at stories of God's judgement, it betrays my comfortable, affluent, easy life. When people cry out to God because they are being oppressed, persecuted and abused - it is good news that God hears and acts justly.
Justice will always be done. Every wrong will be punished - either on the cross or in eternity. This gives great hope in the face of injustice happening all around us.
