Genesis Twenty Seven

Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your blessing.”Genesis 27:19

In God's dysfunctional family, the parents show favouritism to the children and Rachel conspires with Jacob to lie to Isaac for his blessing. If I was God, I would withdraw my blessing from this undeserving family. But that's not how God works. Everyone is undeserving, but he still chooses to bless.

Good news: God's blessing is still undeserved.

Remembering every day that I am undeservedly blessed changes my outlook when self-righteous frustration rises up within me.
