Genesis Thirteen

Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt.Genesis 13:10

Abram and Lot need to separate. Lot looks around and chooses what looks best, but will turn out to be a disaster. Abram is confident to take whatever is left, trusting God more than what looks good at the time.

All my decisions are made like Lot. I look around, make a list of pros and cons and choose what looks best. That can sometimes be fine, but not if I'm trusting my eyes more than God's word.

When making decisions, I should not ignore what I can see, but I need to look at God as well as looking around. He is the one who can really see what's going on.
